Duluth Lakewalk

Last week ended with a record-setting snowstorm, which caused significant damage to the Lakewalk in Canal Park.  The City of Duluth has since been working on repairs, and are now reporting that a segment of the Lakewalk has been reopened. 

If you're planning on exploring the Lakewalk today or tomorrow, be prepared for a detour due to necessary utility work on the underground drainage system.

I've only been on the Lakewalk a couple of times lately because of surgery, but I'm going to be ramping my running up in hopes to run the Grandma's Half Marathon.  If you're a frequent user of the Lakewalk or are floatin' in my boat with just starting training, you need to know that they will be closing a portion for about two weeks.

Here I am, on my soap box again.  The last time I was in disbelief that someone could be so cruel and disrespectful was when the then new downtown Duluth Transit Center was ransacked by an 18 year old  causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.  I'll ask again, what makes someone think it's ok to ruin something that doesn't belong to them?

Please excuse my rant, but we are very lucky in the Northland to have several dog parks, nature trails and the Lakewalk to exercise our pets.  It amazes me that so many pet owners either don't take pride in our scenic beauty or care about keeping it nice for others.  This past weekend I found this, which is impressive for the dog's aim, but not impressive that it was left there by the owner for me

A major source of funding for the American Heart Association is this Saturday, September 24 in Duluth.  The 20th Annual Northland Heartwalk will take place on the Lakewalk, starting at the Endion station.

Nothing beats a stroll along the Lakewalk in Canal Park.  The popular tourist attraction is a great place for a date, to chill with friends, or spend time with your family.  If you're there when the lights are on, you may soon notice a different look.

Each year that goes by, spring becomes a bigger and bigger deal for me.  We got teased with some 60 degree days earlier in March, and now I'm ready for Spring!  Here's a few things a lot of us can't wait to do!

A non profit organization called Veteran is organizing the first Nearly Naked Ruck March in the Twin Ports. The event is a 4.5 mile hike along Duluth's Lakewalk where participants hike with weighted packs wearing only long johns, boots, hats and gloves...

With the 4th Of July holiday coming up, there are a lot of things you can do with your family in the area.  However, where are good places to bring the kids on those ordinary days not full of carnival, parades and cookouts?
