Duluth Lakewalk

Strategically planned before the hot weather arrives!  The City of Duluth wants you to know they are working on the stairway that leads from the Lakewalk to the Portland Malt Shoppe on Superior Street. But don't worry, the malt shoppe will remain open and there are other ways to access the Lakewalk.

What an absolutely gorgeous Monday afternoon/evening!  I'm glad daylight saving time happened this past weekend so we could experience more of the beautiful sunshine and warm temps!  Great training weather for the Grandma's Marathon races coming up in June.

Our city's beautiful Lakewalk is many things to many people.  For some it's a morning walk with the view of a calm lake.  For others, it's a place they can bring their pets for exercise.  Speaking of exercise, it's a place for people to job, run, ride bike and roller blade.  Other will remember their wedding photos taken there or falling in love walking hand in hand....ok, now I'm getting cheesy,

A few months ago I had mentioned that an anchor was going to be transported from Texas to it's home in Duluth.  It was sitting in a scrap yard, how sad!  The anchor will now have a dignified final resting place.  In order for it to be placed on the Lakewalk they need to temporarily close a portion of it.

With Grandma's Marathon this Saturday you may have friends and family visiting from out of town.  You should be aware that a portion of the Lakewalk in Duluth will be closed for repairs on Tuesday, June 18. It should only be for the day.  Here's the details and exact location.

Somehow I stumbled on this on youtube and just had to share.  It's fun to take a trip down memory lane, and this will bring you back 22 years to 1991 where Duluth was just finishing up the lakewalk.  To highlight grand opening events, they came up with "Luke Lakewalker" Star Wars promos.  It's ridiculously funny.

I thought you should be forewarned, especially with Grandma's Marathon this past weekend.  There are a lot of tourists in town and Grandma's kinda kicks off our tourist season in the Twin Ports.  Part of the charm of the City of Duluth is the Lakewalk.  It's a must-see attraction that everyone can enjoy.
