Christmas Movie Filmed In Duluth Has An Official Premiere Date
Tis (almost) the season! The holidays are right around the corner and that means we will be bombarded in the best way with all those cheesy holiday movies we love. Making things extra special this year is the fact that a movie filmed in Duluth, Minnesota will be released this year on a very popular channel.
In May of this year, we learned that there was yet another movie filming in Duluth. Details of the movie were pretty under wraps at the time of filming, but there were cameras spotted filming by locals in popular places like OMC Smokehouse, Dovetail Café and Marketplace and the Duluth Depot.
It was also shot in Bayfront Festival Park, with producers putting out a casting call for locals to take part. They were asked to dress in holiday colors and the park was turned into a fake holiday market.
Who Is In The Movie + What Is It Called?
Over the course of the past few months, we have learned more and more about the movie. We know the title is Rescuing Christmas and thanks to some eagle-eyed fans, we also learned that the movie stars famous actors like Rachael Leigh Cook and Sam Page.
Rachael Leigh Cook is famous for her roles in just about everything, from Criminal Minds to the cult classic She's All That. Sam Page is best known for his role in Grey's Anatomy, Mad Men and All My Children.
Duluth native Bailey Stender is also in the film. She was cast in a major Hollywood production recently called Wolf Pack on Paramount Plus.
When + Where Will The Movie Air?
We've been waiting for this moment since we learned a movie was filming in Duluth in the first place! The movie will make its big premiere on Hallmark Movies Now on Thursday, December 7th.
Hallmark Movies Now is a streaming service. Think of it like Netflix for Hallmark movie lovers! You won't be able to watch movies and shows from Hallmark in real time. Instead, you can watch after the fact. It does require a subscription but you can get a free weeklong trial.
What Is The Movie About?
Along with details of a premiere date and time, we also now have a full synopsis of the film, which is as follows:
In a world where Santa is real and wants to drum up some holiday spirit, two of Santa’s elves, Chuck and Debbie, devise a plan to grant one human on Earth three wishes to kickstart the holidays. Unfortunately, that human is Erin, who has lost all affection for the season. Even a blind date set up by her sister, with the affable and charming Sam, won’t change her mind about Christmas. But when she makes the mistake of wishing Christmas would “just disappear,” Erin wakes up to a world where the holiday never existed! Horrified, she realizes that she’s taken away everyone’s joy, so she enlists Sam to help her reinvent the festivities from scratch. In the process, Erin learns just how much this holiday and its traditions have meant to everyone around her — and how much Sam has come to mean to her.
Sounds romantic! It is also billed as a drama and comedy if you aren't into mushy love stories. You know where to find me on December 7th. I hope the trend of films, especially holiday films, using Duluth as a backdrop continues into 2024 and for years to come.
