Lake Superior Zoo Facebook page

If Grandma's Half or full Marathon was a bit too far out of your comfort zone, then get ready to Run Like an Animal with the Lake Superior Zoo, or walk it if you want.  Add to the fun by dressing up!  The best part is that all is that the animals benefit from all the proceeds collected.

Seriously, whether you're a runner, jogger or a walker, you will enjoy the beautiful trails that surround around the Lake Superior Zoo.  Mark Saturday, August 3 on your calendar and hope for great weather for the annual 5K.

It's unique in the fact that the event is held on the grounds of the Lake Superior Zoo. Just imagine approximately 400 runners/walkers taking to the trails for the same cause.

Adding to the uniqueness of the event, participants can decide how, when and where they take part, here's your options:

  • Run or Walk the 5k “Zoo Course” through the zoo on August 3rd
  • Run or Walk a 5k “Virtual Course” anytime/anywhere (even out of town) from July 27 & August 3rd
  • Run or Walk in your favorite animal costume or as your beautiful, perfect self

All Registrants will receive a Lake Superior Zoo “Run Like an Animal” t-shirt, a general admission ticket- good for the day of your choice, and a “goodie bag” filled with things every runner or walker would enjoy.  Oh, and if you're a serious runner (or want to win for your costume design), prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for both men and women, and a best costume prize will also be awarded.

The Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. sharp on Saturday, August 3rd. Race packs should be picked up on race day between 7 am and 8 am at the Lake Superior Zoo.

There will be lots going on at the zoo that the whole family can enjoy on August 3, besides the run.
