Registration For Duluth Women’s Ten Mile Opens Friday
It might only be March but for runners across the Northland, it's never too early to start preparing for your post-Grandma's Marathon races. One of my favorites is the Duluth Women's Ten Mile, which takes place later this year.
I did the race last year and it was by far one of the most beautiful courses I have ever tackled! The race also takes place in the fall so you can consider this a fun way to see some famous Minnesota fall colors.
This year, the Duluth Women's Ten Mile takes place on Saturday, September 28th. This is a few weeks earlier than last year. The course has aid stations and a shuttle service to the start line to avoid a hassle, with the race kicking off at Hawk Ridge and ending at Leif Erickson Park.
Registration officially opens on Friday, March 8th via Duluth Running Company's website. If you know you want to take part, hop on it because registration will be $55 for the first 75 people who sign up. It opens at midnight so you may want to wake up early to get the best price.
Prices will continue to increase once this number is hit and closer to the actual race later this year. Once the first 75 people register, the price jumps to $65. From there, prices will increase into the months leading up to the race as more people register.

Wonder why registration opens on Friday? That's because it also happens to be International Women's Day. The race is all about female empowerment. Finishers even get a custom sterling silver necklace in lieu of a medal.
The necklace is made by Erica Sara Designs and this year, features one of the 'Seven Bridges' and iconic sunrise you see at the start of the race. Part of the proceeds from the race go to woman-owned businesses and helping them succeed.

Of course, no race is complete with a finish line party. There will be food and drinks after the race. This race is not just limited to women, either. It is open to anyone and everyone who simply love the running community and want to give back.
