Firefighters across the country are all joining together this week to be part of the fill the boot campaign. This event has been going on across the country since 1954 and here in Duluth since 2006. All money that is collected by firefighters goes towards raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association or MDA.

Through this campaign firefighters across the country have collected critical funds in the community – one dollar at a time – as part of the Fill the Boot program to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). " The dollars raised through Fill the Boot fund MDA’s mission of empowering people living with neuromuscular disease to achieve their full potential."

Each day many freedoms we take for granted like walking, running, hugging, playing even laughing and eating are taken away from children and adults with Muscular Dystrophy as the disease progresses. That is why your donations make such a huge difference to hopefully find a cure one day. But for now, fundraisers like this help people with MD live their fullest lives.

This week from 3-5 pm, as you drive around Duluth, you will see members of the Duluth Fire Department standing on sidewalks and at intersections with a boot for donations. Please be cautious while driving or pulling over to donate. Below are the locations in Duluth where you can find firefighters ready to collect whatever you can give, and thank you for your support!
