Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released on May 6th, so I'm a little behind the ball on getting to see it.  I had grand plans to catch it opening weekend, but life happens.

I had been excited to see this film since the trailers, and finally was able to catch it with the family the other night.  My excitement increased when I found out that it was directed by Sam Raimi who of course rocked the Evil Dead franchise.

The film picks up of course after the events of Avengers: Endgame, but it's kind of hard to tell how long after.  It also follows after the events of WandaVision which you don't have to watch before seeing Multiverse of Madness, but it wouldn't hurt.

Without revealing too much plot, I'll say that it's probably the most dark and evil spirit like of any of the previous Marvel Movies.  Our ten-year-old even said she thought it should have had an "R" rating.  The language wasn't bad at all, but it certainly was a bit more graphic than other films from the franchise.

The action was plentiful, and the imagery was done well enough, though there were a few moments that I was a tad bored, probably from the writing and storyline.  Still, that didn't ruin it for me.  The film featured some characters I didn't expect to see, which was a welcomed surprise, and it had some humor.  The "funny" parts were not gut busters, and a few felt kind of forced, but they had their place I suppose in the darker toned film.  The movie was also scored pretty decently, which music is of course a big part of the cinematic experience.

On a one through ten scale, I'd probably give it a solid 6.5 and say that knowing I need to see it again.  It certainly was worlds better than most of the dumpster fire films DC has given us.

If you're a Marvel fan at all, it's worth seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, especially in theaters.
