How incredible! A famous Hollywood name is in Minnesota right now filming a brand new movie. While this has become increasingly common over the years, it is always fun when a movie is shot in our neck of the woods.

It seemingly started with Merry Kiss Cam, a rom-com filmed in the Duluth area that went on to premiere on Hulu a few years ago. It was a big hit!

Since then, there have been too many productions to name filmed in our region and statewide. It's really cool to hear about the filming of a new movie and then watch it come to life on screen.

This movie production is found in a different part of the state - but is just as sweet. Here's what we know about the latest movie filming in Minnesota.

New Indie Sports Drama Filming In Rochester - What We Know

This time around, Rochester is the backdrop for this Minnesota-made film. It not only stars David Arquette, who is a massive star, but it also stars Alexa Swinton, Wyatt Oleff and more.

According to Deadline, the movie is titled Wreckless and is described as an indie sports drama. The film is a story about all things addiction, grief and recovery and how those things impact a father-daughter relationship.

Joni, described as a 'reckless teenager' to Arquette's character Larry, enters a demolition derby. The two are 'forced to confront the past' while trying to rebuild their relationship in this very unusual circumstance and arena.

The coolest part? The movie is actually shooting amidst the real derby community in Rochester. That's a really fun little note about the movie - and what makes Rochester the perfect spot to film this movie.
