Drama Filmed In Ely Hitting Theaters Nationwide This Month
Incredible! The Duluth area, and northern Minnesota in general, has become a huge hub for movie making over the past few years. There have been a ton of movies filmed here and for a pop culture lover like me, it's always exciting.
It seemingly all started with Merry Kiss Cam, which filmed locally in the summertime back in 2022. One of the stars of the film was Katie Lowes, who had become a huge star thanks to Scandal.

The movie premiered in November of the same year and became a big hit on Hulu! Since then, so many different things have been filmed here, along the North Shore and beyond: everything from Christmas movies to Lifetime movies to dramas.
Now, a movie filmed in Ely is having a moment - and you have a chance to catch a special screening of the movie for a limited time later this month.

Catch 'IF I TELL YOU' In Duluth Later This Month
The movie will hit theaters across the nation on Thursday, August 27th. However, you have a shot to see it just a short drive from where it was made. The film will screen from Friday, August 21st through the 27th at the Zinema in downtown Duluth.

There are a handful of showtimes each day but due to the limited time it will be in theaters, you shouldn't wait to snag your ticket. You can purchase tickets ahead of time online via the Zinema website.
The run will end on Wednesday, August 27th so again, make sure you don't wait on this one. It has already gotten some national attention. The movie will also air in Ely's Historic State Theater throughout the same period.
What 'IF I TELL YOU' Is About - Plot, Cast And More
The movie is a drama and mystery directed by Tessa Blake. It stars Etienne Kellici, Bill Heck, Allison Miller and more. The synopsis of the film is as follows:
12 year old Michael enjoys a carefree boyhood until his mom comes home with a black eye and a busted lip. Michael strives to unravel the mystery that has altered his once close family.
The runtime is one hour and thirty-eight minutes. It also looks like we will see the Boundary Waters as well, which outdoor enthusiasts will love. If you are reading this outside of Duluth or Ely city limits, don't fear: the movie is screening for one night in Minneapolis and Roseville.
