President Larry Goodwin has been with the College of St. Scholastica for years and he has announced that he will be retiring in 2016.  He is the longest-serving president in the history of St. Scholastica and achieved double enrollment during his tenure.  But, I have a personal thank you for something much bigger that involved the community.

We drove past the Portland Malt Shoppe on Superior Street and I was surprised to see the OPEN sign illuminated!  It sparked excitement because that's the gateway to summer, but also evoked a giggle since we had been receiving small snow squalls all day.

It's like an ending you would find in a movie or book.  A body is found at Twin Ponds in Duluth that helps to solve a 34 year old mystery.  The Officer that began working on that case is retiring and one of his last duties will be returning the 17 year old murder victim's personal belongings.

My take is:  the toilet paper should come OVER the top.  That way when you can't find the end or you're in the dark you can just spin it downward and the end will eventually come off leaving it easy to grab. I've had people argue that fact, but now there's proof.

Ken and I made it through another year and he beat me to posting it on Facebook yesterday!  Of course, we wouldn't have eight years together without you joining us day in and day out on the B105 Breakfast Club Show.  YOU are the reason getting up at 3am is totally worth it!

People in the Northland have been anxiously watching the Duluth Transit Authority's Multimodal Transportation Center take shape in downtown Duluth.  The DTA has been around for more than 130 years.  Their mission is to provide public transit that is safe, convenient, efficient and affordable, that's why using electric buses in the Northland is perfect!

I check facebook several times over a weekend.  This weekend I saw a friend request from an Amy.  I recognized her last name and thought "could it be"?  Sure enough, it was a former student from when I taught Red Cross swimming lessons at the Wrenshall School pool in the late 70's.  I accepted her request for friendship and she sent me two photos that absolutely FLOORED me!

The City of Duluth is looking to hire a Bridge Operator, what an opportunity for someone with the right qualifications! If you've been holding out for a dream job in the Northland, this is it!  They have extended the application deadline to Friday, February 6, 2015 to make sure all who are interested have the time to apply.

The Little Brown Jug game has been played between friendly rivals Wrenshall and Carlton for 65 years.  With both school's basketball teams vying to score the most points and earn the right to house the "little brown jug" in their school until the next match.  However, this is a historic year because the two schools are considering consolidation, therefore this might be the last time the

The first time this commercial came on TV, it stopped me in my tracks.  I actually stopped crocheting and was riveted to the images on the screen.  Apparently so did the rest of America because now there is controversy surrounding the ad.  Watch it here and let us know what you think.

Remember these cute little bugs?  The Cootie Bug game was one of my favorites as a child, along with Parcheesi, Yahtzee and Life! (not a fan of Monopoly due to my crappy math ability, although it did teach me to make change).   But, everybody had their favorites.  "Toys" is a national traveling exhibit of toys making stop at the MN History Center and has been breaking attendance records.
