The Little Brown Jug game has been played between friendly rivals Wrenshall and Carlton for 65 years.  With both school's basketball teams vying to score the most points and earn the right to house the "little brown jug" in their school until the next match.  However, this is a historic year because the two schools are considering consolidation, therefore this might be the last time the "little brown jug" would ever be played.  Both teams brought their A game, but my alma mater made me proud!

A little background.  I attended Wrenshall School from K-12.  All the way through 8th grade one of my classmates was Troy Powers, who moved to Louisiana when the Wrenshall refinery closed.  He came back to walk across the stage with us at graduation and is now Dr. Powers (an eye doctor) AND the coach of the Wrenshall Boys Basketball Team who took the win and the right to keep the "little brown jug".

My beloved Wrens held on to beat the Bulldogs by one point; 61 - 60 in their first meeting in Carlton a couple weeks ago. So, this game promised to be stellar with the win going either way.  The house was packed, everyone played hard and the coaches lead their players with style, grace and sportsmanship.

The end result was the Wrens retaining the Brown Jug with the final score 62-41! It was definitely a team effort with 11 Wrenshall players helping to score in the victory!

Congratulations, you make this former Wrenshall graduate proud!
