USA Curling Team Battles It Out With A Famous Actress On Twitter
We were already proud of the U.S. Men's Olympic Curling Team but somehow this story makes our heart swell with even more pride. The team is making national news after trading barbs with a famous Hollywood actress on Twitter.
It all started Monday night when star Kirstie Alley took to Twitter to share her thoughts on curling with her 1.3 million followers. It turns out she's not a fan of the Olympic sport. In a now-deleted tweet, she wrote "I'm not trying to be mean but...curling is boring." (She announced early Wednesday morning she decided to delete all her tweets that were "unnecessary.")
It wasn't long before the team caught wind of the actress's comments. It turns out they aren't just great at curling but amazing at putting people in their place, too. Their response had people on the internet screaming with delight.
Are you laughing yet? They do have a point, but regardless, the comeback is worthy of an Academy Award and a gold medal. People were definitely Team USA on this one and quickly came to the defense of the team. It wasn't long before Alley felt guilty and rescinded her comments, responding to a different Twitter user.
It seems this was all in good fun and because we are Minnesota nice, the team responded to her apology of sorts in the classiest way possible.
Before this feud was officially water under the bridge, a few other members of the team joined in on the fun. Their responses were also nothing short of epic.
Team USA: 1. Kirstie Alley: 0.
The real question, now that this is all water under the bridge, is will Alley take Team Shuster up on the curling offer? Only time will tell but one thing is for sure - we will probably find out about it on Twitter.
This story has made national headlines this week, with coverage by People, Fox News and USA Today, just to name a few.
Nevertheless, the boys took a crucial win over Canada. Team USA for the win in more ways than one!
