Daniel Durant Returns To Roots In New Musical 'Elephant Shoes'

What a fun representation of the city we call home! A famous Duluth actor just scored a pretty cool new role: he has been cast in a new and original new musical.

Daniel Durant has had an incredible career and yes, he's from right here in the Northland. He had his huge breakthrough moment a few years ago when he starred in CODA, which went on to win the coveted Oscar for Best Picture in 2022.

He had a huge role in the film and was an integral part of the cast. He played a character named Leo Rossi. He was also a cast member on Dancing With The Stars where he met his (now) wife.

While he wasn't born in Duluth, he did grow up here and has even been back since he gained nationwide acclaim. Who says you can't go home?!t

Daniel Durant Cast In New Musical 'Elephant Shoes'

Amazing! Daniel will be starring in Elephant Shoes. So far, he is one of the only cast members to be announced but the production is set to premiere this summer - so we don't have to wait too long.

Daniel will play one of the main characters named Cy. The show will have a limited run so gets tickets while you can, running from the 4th of June through the 28th at the Two River Theater in New Jersey. The New York Times has called it one of the must-see shows to see this year!

The production is being billed as "a love letter to connection, longing, and the courage it takes to truly be understood" so it should be great - but emotional! As for the plot, it follows two friends who fall in love.

Enter Cy, Daniel's character, who becomes one of the friend's sounding boards on the situation. Of course, he finds himself falling in love with them. This show will be a mix of ASL, spoken word and projected text. Daniel is deaf and advocates for deaf representation in Hollywood.
