This is awesome! Congratulations to one of our very own, who just won a major industry award.

You probably already know about Daniel Durant, an actor who has really hit it big in Hollywood over the past few years, thanks to his part in the Oscar-winning film CODA. He's from right here in Duluth!

Ever since that movie won the award for Best Picture in 2021, he's been doing a lot, including a stint on Dancing With The Stars!

In 2024, he was tapped to perform the National Anthem in ASL at a pre-Super Bowl event. Now, he just got a major award that has a nice ring to it!

Daniel was just honored with the Best Actor Award at the 2025 Manchester Film Festival. He won for his role in Silent Notes. The movie is a crime thriller.

In the film, Daniel plays a man named Bruce. The synopsis of the film is as follows, courtesy of IMDb:

When Bruce is faced with sudden hearing loss, he embarks on a dangerous journey to raise the money to fix it.

Woah!

Maybe this is just the beginning of another run through awards season for the actor! He definitely keeps booked and busy, even appearing on one of my favorite shows a few years ago.

It is always fun to have a Minnesota connection like this, but even better to have a big Northland connection like this one! Cheers to Daniel for this achievement. I will definitely be watching the film.
