Superior Mayor Paine Follows Through On Reducing Garabage Fee
Earlier this year Mayor Jim Paine told residents he was working on lowering the garbage fee for the people of Superior. For years (before Paine took office) the city justified the higher property taxes by saying that residents didn't have to pay for garbage. Then they started a garbage and recycling fee with yearly automatic increases. The increases were set to go up by $2 per month in 2019, but now the city council has voted and will actually lower the fee.
The lowered fee will now be $7.25 for residents. Businesses and apartment complexes will not see a reduction in fees, but it will be less of an increase than originally scheduled.
The new rates take place beginning January 1st, 2019.
