Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center Hosting Military + Civilian Vehicle Show Saturday
On Saturday, August 4, the Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center is hosting the Military/Civilian Vehicle Show, which will feature a flying UH-1H Heuy Helicopter.
According to organizers, the helicopter will be in a static display but will fly in and out of the Center. The show will also feature a M-60 tank along with an operational M-4 A3 Sherman Tank that you can crawl into and start up. In addition, the Wisconsin National Guard, Coast Guard and Army are providing numerous vehicles and a boat. The Center is also hosting a military book sale and the Bong Book Club is hosting a bake sale.
Families are encouraged to attend as kids can enjoy World War II re-enactors from Fox Company, 2nd Battalion 502nd 101 Airborne. They will host a WW II weapons demonstration and kids will be allowed to dress up in uniform. Kids and adults will have the opportunity to get up close to the M-4 Sherman tank.
The show is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Bong Center Parking lot at 305 Harbor View Parkway (next to Perkins). Visitors are asked to park in the greenspace across from Marina Drive. Golfcarts will be on hand to assist elderly or handicap patrons to the Center.
Admission is $5.00, which includes admission into the Center for the entire day.
