While Ken is on paternity leave, Steve has been filling in on the Breakfast Club Show.  Miranda Lambert's "All Kinds of Kinds" came on and I started asking questions.  As Steve and I were discussing they lyrics, it dawned on me that the meaning of the song to us, may be very different from what you think.  Do you agree with me or do you have another take?

"All Kinds of Kinds"

Artist:  Miranda Lambert   Songwriters:  Don Henry and Phillip Coleman

Elsa was an acrobat
That went and fell in love with that
Horatio, the human cannonball

{Ok, it's the beginning of establishing the fact that she's singing about performers at a circus}

A wedding beneath the big top tent
With barkers, clowns, and elephants,
Sideshow family oddities and all

{Family, friends, everyone was excited about the marriage}

The dogface boy
Howled out with joy
As the tattooed lady was cryin'
{Even if your friends are on the weird side, they're happy for you and the love of your life}

Ever since the beginning
To keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds

{Since the dawn of time, people have been different and unique}

Thomas was a congressman
with closet's full of skeletons
And dresses that he wore on Friday nights

{Yet another politician that has a secret that will probably cause him to lose his career when it goes public}

Phyllis was a pharmacist
A dab of that a pinch of this
Concocted to suppress her appetite

{Here's a pharmacist who is taking advantage the product she works with to feed  her addiction to prescribed medication}

When the children were fiddlin'
She'd slip them some Ritalin
And wait for Thomasina to arrive

{This is where it gets interesting.  She not only steals medication to feed her addiction, but takes Ritalin to give to her kids when she's expecting "him" over for some "sexy time".  Thomasina is the politician mentioned previously in the song who likes to wear dresses.  Oh what tangled webs we weave!}

Cuz ever since the beginning
To keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds
All kinds of kinds

{Since the dawn of time, people have been different and unique. Even if it means they could lose everything including their dignity if they get caught}

When I play this old guitar
At children's shows to smoky bars
I take a break and think about the past

{Miranda thinks about people she has dealt with in the past and realizes how true the lyrics in the song she chose to sing really is}

When I stood up in geometry
And everybody stared at me
And I tossed my test into the trash

{Like the people she sings about, she did exactly what she wanted to do without regards to what other people thought}

I scratched off my number
While hitching out under
That Bushleague population sign

{I'm a little miffed on this one.  She scratched off the number of the population sign in her hometown while tying up her horse?  Why?  Because she didn't want to be included in the masses, instead she wants to be seen as an individual?}

Ever since the beginning
To keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds

{Since the dawn of time, people have been different and unique}

At some point the finger
Let ignorance linger
If they'd look in a mirror they'd find

{So many people judge to quickly.  If they really took a look at themselves, their choices and their lives they would find that they have made quirky choices, wrong decisions and done things that some would raise an eyebrow at}

That ever since the beginning
To keep the world spinning
It takes all kinds of kinds
All kinds of kinds
All kinds of kinds

So, how did I do?  Do you agree with my interpretation of the lyrics?  Let me know if I nailed it, or if you have another suggestion.  Personally, I try my darnedest not to judge and just accept people for who they are.  Maybe that's an influence on how I hear the lyrics.
