Meet General Patton & Teddy Roosevelt on July 4th at the Bong Center
If you're looking for something unique to do on the 4th of July, check out this event at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior.
Not only can you learn about the history of Richard I. Bong and World War II, but on Independence Day the museum will welcome two historic figures, General Patton & Teddy Roosevelt, each of whom will speak to guests that day.
Teddy Roosevelt will speak at 2:30 and 4:30, discussing his defeat of the Spanish in Cuba during the Spanish American war and his path to the White House.
Patton will speak about his legendary career as one of the most successful combat generals in U.S history and the liberation of Germany from the Nazis, he's scheduled to speak at 1:30 and 3:30.
“We are excited to welcome back Teddy this year and to have General Patton joining him,” said Executive Director Dustin Heckman. “This was planned as the 2020 event before COVID hit so we are very appreciative that both performers are able to be here.”
Guests can see both speakers with a paid general or Heavy Metal Tour admission to the Center on July 4th. Heavy Metal tour guests will be able to learn detailed information about the M-60 tank and the P-38 Lightning airplane, and get to see parts of the airplane that are not available to regular tour guests, including getting a chance to get a look at the inside of the cockpit.
If you'd like to participate in the Heavy Metal Tour, just show up, no reservations are needed and prices range from $14 for kids and $20 for adults and are available 7 days a week. General admission price range from $7 - $10.
