The Richard I Bong Heritage Center is honoring Memorial Day Weekend this Saturday with a free event for the community. There will be a free barbecue and vehicle show on Saturday May 25th for the community. Last year was the first time they did a community barbecue. It went so well that they decided to expand the event.

This year they will also have a military vehicle show that features vehicles from the Wisconsin National Guard, the US Army, and other private vehicles. If weather cooperates a Huey UH-1 Helicopter will fly in as well.

It's geared as a family event with bouncy houses, yard games, and a rock wall. The barbecue will take place by the harbor. You are encourage to bring a blanket. There is no cost to the event and it takes place from 11am-3pm.

While Memorial Day is the official kick off to summer, it's important not to forget what Memorial Day is all about. It's a time of year where we remember those soldiers who gave their lives in the fight for our freedom and way of life.
