The kickoff to summer is here. As many people head to the North woods and lakes in Northern Minnesota, delays can happen at a bridge replacement project.

For some organizations being a part of the Memorial Day Parade in Duluth next year might be out of reach due to possible increased fees.

Douglas County is seeking volunteers to put flags out at a variety of cemeteries for Memorial Day.

In honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Richard I Bong Heritage Center is honoring Memorial Day Weekend this Saturday with a free event for the community.

Memorial Day traditionally falls on the last Monday in May which for many means a long weekend full of fun, but we should also remember why the holiday exists.

This video is a great representation about what those little red flowers (poppy) represent, and also a reminder of what Memorial Day is all about.

I had the honor of volunteering to sell those cute little red poppy flowers that are traditional seen in May. They are called a “buddy” poppy and the money collected through donations during poppy day, May 4 are used to assist the needy and disabled veterans, their families, widows and orphans of veterans. Here is a bit of background and why you should support this worthy cause.

Hopefully this Memorial Day Weekend you've had extra time to relax, have a little fun, and spend time with people you love the most.  I think it's also important to remember that we have Memorial Day to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country.  There are several things you could do today to observe the holiday.

The roads will be busy with thousands of travelers making their Memorial Day weekend journeys and it's no coincidence that the "Click It Or Ticket" campaign is also underway.
