You might want to pack your parka for Memorial Day Week plans. The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for parts of Minnesota, and it could continue through Memorial Day Weekend.

We shouldn't complain about the cooler-than-average temperatures we've experienced this week. The heatwave we saw a couple of weeks ago led to historic wildfires, and the cooler temps and rain have helped bring them under control. Still, the temps have left some people scrambling to protect their plants from frosty mornings.

The wind has been insane as well in the region, with Lake Superior wave heights topping 10 feet in some areas, and wind gusts over 30 miles per hour.

Check out this map of the advisories in the US. You can see besides a section of mountains in Idaho, we're the only place with a frost advisory. Not even Alaska has a frost advisory.

A large portion of Minnesota and Wisconsin is under a frost advisory for tonight. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid to low 30s, bringing patchy frost.

The National Weather Service in Duluth expects patchy frost to continue in the early morning hours this weekend.

It will be a cold start to Memorial Day, but fortunately, daytime highs should reach 60 degrees. Next week looks like a warm-up is coming our way.
