It is the question on all of our minds: is winter over in the Northland or will we see another wave at some point?

It's no secret that we saw that fun April Fools' snowstorm to kick off the new month. We saw nearly ten inches in Duluth and even more in other areas.

Anything can happen in the wintertime in Minnesota. The Old Farmer's Almanac says we will get more snow throughout the month in our region.

Of course, we have to take their predictions with a grain of salt so I turned to WDIO Meteorologist Lea Zmurko for more details.

I reached out to her via email and asked if she could tell me whether she thinks spring is on the way or we still have some winter to get through.

Here is what she told me about whether or not we will see more winter weather or finally move on to spring:

We saw plenty of heavy wet snow come through the Northland this week and are now starting to see some quiet weather settle in. Temperature trends look to jump into the 50s and low 60s by the middle of the next week- which will encourage more melting around the Northland and get us to those brighter spring days we have been so  patently waiting for.

There you have it. She is optimistic that spring is near - and could even start to move in as early as next week.

One weather analyst, who goes by Midwest Weather on Facebook, stated recently that he thinks spring will start to pop up mid-month and into the rest of the month.

I guess only time will tell - but I am going with Lea on this one!

A Guide To Spring In The Northland

Let's get one thing straight: Spring is a good thing. Don't get me wrong. I love when it finally comes and we can finally emerge from our winter blues. But if you're new to the area, there's somethings you need to know about spring here.

Here's What People Want To See In West Duluth's Closed Kmart Location

The Kmart in Spirit Valley closed several years ago. It's sat abandoned since, and it really is a waste of good space right in the heart of West Duluth. I recently asked our audience what they would like to see in that location in the future. There were many passionate responses.
