Northern Minnesota Bracing For A Weekend Heat Wave

From thick smoke in the air to dangerously hot conditions - we have really been through it weather-wise this month and it looks like we are in for more before the end of the month! It is summer after all.

Earlier this month, the Northland was blanketed with thick smoke due to wildfires burning in northern Minnesota. This smoke lasted most of the work week and continued into the weekend.

Now, with smoky conditions finally letting up, it looks like a nice little heat wave is in store for the weekend (of Friday, July 24th). In fact, Midwest Weather says we could see the hottest conditions of the year with this one.

So when will the heat move in and just how hot will it get in the Duluth area? Let's dive in. I hope you didn't take the AC unit out of your window just yet.

Heat Returns This Weekend In Duluth & Continues Into The Weekend

According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, highs will peak in the 80s and 90s this weekend all across the area. Heat index values will be in the 90s for a majority of the Northland so prepare accordingly.

The cooler temperatures have felt so good the past week! I hope this heat wave is short lived, even though I am not quite ready for summer to be over just yet. According to their forecast, we will see upper 80s in Duluth both Saturday and Sunday. Yikes!

This Heat Wave Could Bring The Hottest Conditions Yet To The Midwest

Midwest Weather shared a forecast as well, writing that most of the midwest will see extreme heat this weekend. According to the forecast shared, the heat index could reach the triple digits across our neck of the woods at some point this weekend.

The heat will linger into the early part of the week but overall, it looks like this weekend will be the hottest part of this mini heat wave. You never know what you are going to get in the Northland. What a hot summer so far!
