New Bridge Being Installed In New Area Of Highway 105 Starting June 15
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation issued a press release concerning a construction project that starts next week. An undersized culvert is being replaced. The culvert carries water from an unnamed tributary of the Pokegama River.
$3.06 Million Dollar Culvert Replacement & Bridge Construction
Governor Tony Evers signed a $3.06 million contract with prime contractor Northland Constructors of Duluth.
The culvert is undersized, so the project will be to remove the existing culvert. The tributary connects to the Pokegama River. WISDOT will then construct a bridge to replace the culvert. During the construction, a temporary bypass will be built to carry one lane of traffic during the construction.
Traffic will remain open on Highway 105 between Oliver and Superior, Wisconsin. However, watch for flagging and stopped traffic, as only one lane will be open during the project. The bypass will be controlled by temporary traffic signals to get around the detour.
Heavy truck traffic will be detoured via Highway 23, US 2, or Wisconsin State Highway 35.

Once the new bridge is installed, crews will install guardrail and repair slopes disturbed by the construction. Northland Constructors will also replace the pavement approaching the new bridge.
