Cloquet Business Feeling Impacts Of Road Construction

This is one of the many downsides of construction season. We all know that construction season in the Northland is long and it seems there is always some sort of project going on. It seems there are even more projects than usual at the moment.

While road construction can be a pain in general, it really hits local businesses in the area. It can lead to confusion as to if businesses are open AND some people might get frustrated, give up trying to get somewhere and decide to go elsewhere.

Such is the case with Dead On Arms and Second Chance Surplus. I was chatting with Candi, the owner, this week and she told me about how the construction has made business slow over the past month or so since it began.

She told me that signs saying 'road closed to thru traffic' have created confusion where people think they can't drive through if they are going to a local business. However, you are able to drive through if you are visiting a local business!

She has posted several social media updates since the construction began earlier this summer. She even went as far as to say she appreciates those working on the current road construction projects around the business and knows it is a tough job.

However, understandably so, she is frustrated by what the road construction and mixed signals means for her business and others in the area. Stokke's recently shared a similar sentiment, saying they'd seen a decrease in business since projects began in their neck of the woods.

With several projects happening across the Northland, road construction isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The best way to support a local business during this time is to stop by if you can, regardless of construction and help spread the word.
