Duluth Shake Shop Asks Community For Help After Tough Year

If you are passionate about supporting local, this is a great way to do so. I was scrolling on social media the other day when I saw a long post shared by a local business and it really pulled at my heartstrings.

The post was shared on Thursday (July 23rd) by Thick & Twisted, a shake and tea shop located in Duluth. The long and emotional message was written by the owners of the shop, Brittany and Cindi.

Their message is really vulnerable, telling their loyal customers and the community in general that they are struggling to keep the doors open due to circumstances beyond their control. In their post, they state that they have been hit with one financial setback after another.

In January, one of the owners was burned at work and this has led to medical appointments and reduced pay, among other things. Anyone who has been through something similar knows it can cause huge financial strain.

The message goes on to say that the shake shop is not just a hobby but a business that they have put everything into. They went on to ask for the public's help in supporting them and helping them keep their doors open by stopping by and grabbing a shake or tea if they are able to.

Other ways you can help? They shared a few other ideas, writing that you could bring a friend with you to snag a tea or shake, order products for delivery via Uber Eats or DoorDash if you can't stop by in person or purchase a gift card for later.

A very simple and effective way to support any local business, including this one, is to share their posts on social media and this post as well! A small social media post can go a long way.

The owners end their post by saying things have gotten pretty bad and they didn't want to have to share their current reality, but wanted to be honest. I hate seeing any local business struggle. 2026 Duluth Airshow In Photos

The 2026 Duluth Airshow was July 11 and 12. The 26th annual Duluth Airshow drew large crowds, despite hot conditions. The hot weather was accompanied by lots of sun with passing clouds, making for good show viewing.

This year's slate of aerial performers was headlined by the US Air Force Thunderbirds, with lots of other aerobatic feats shown off by a variety of pilots and performers.
