Duluth Drag Races Are Back—And Tickets Are Going Fast

Mark your calendars for this exhilarating event coming this fall. Once again, the Duluth Drag Races return to Garfield Avenue this September.

Duluth Drag Races September 26-27

Duluth Drag Races started years ago and have become a tradition on Garfield Avenue. The races unofficially began when car enthusiasts would drag race illegally. Eventually, organizers worked with city officials and law enforcement to make this a legitimate event that has grown into a thrilling yearly weekend of races. Duluth is the first city in the country to have a legally sanctioned eighth-mile race on a city street.

Kern & Kompany is the organizer, and they brought back the races last year after a pause that began during COVID-19. Then, road construction on the Twin Ports Interchange happened, causing further delays. Last year was the first year back since 2019, and it was a huge success.

Registration & Spectator Tickets Selling Fast

The event takes place on September 26 and 27th. Registration for races opened up at 8 am on Friday, July 24th. Within an hour, the registration was half full, and Kern & Kompany expects the registration to fill up by this evening.

There is also a capacity limit for spectators. Kern & Kompany President, Ryan Kern, says that if people want to attend, they should buy their tickets online now.

"There's a capacity for spectators, and last year we sold out on Saturday and had to turn people away. If you want to go to the Duluth Drag Races, buy your ticket online now."
