Here’s How Warm It Got In The Duluth Area Thursday

I don't want to jinx anything but I think spring may actually be here in the Twin Ports! Although we had a brief few days with warm temperatures in April, it didn't last long. We saw snow and cold temperatures for the rest of April and even into May.

It looks like we may have turned the corner though. Thursday felt like our first real day of spring, with warm temperatures and sunshine. After a long winter, this was definitely a welcome surprise! According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, this was the warmest day since September of last year. (Like I said, it's been a long winter.)

The National Weather Service of Duluth also says that usually we get to the 80s for the first time in May. It looks like we are right on track for where we should be this time of year, even though it seems like spring is taking forever to actually spring. They also shared maximum high temperatures for the day (May 11th).

It is pretty surreal to see 70s and 80s across the Northland! As always, areas near the lake were a little bit cooler. Still, we won't complain about this at all! Just think back to the fact that this was a record-breaking winter for snow in Duluth and you will feel a lot better.

In true Northland fashion, it looks like it will cool down for a bit. If you are headed out for Minnesota fishing opener, definitely pack a jacket because it will be chilly! Just hang in there, though. Warmer days are upon us, I think.

WDIO Meteorologist Brandon Weatherz said it best on Friday (May 12th), taking advantage of National Limerick Day to state what we were in for this weekend, and for Minnesota fishing opener. Ha!
