Help This Northland Family Who Lost Everything In House Fire
Earlier this month, a Northland family lost everything in a fire of which the cause is still unknown. What started in the basement quickly destroyed parts of the house, which is now being ruled a total loss.
The event happened just two days after the family celebrated a wedding anniversary. The fire took one of the family's dogs and severely injured the other, with vet bills piling up for his treatment.
At the time, five family members were living there. Now, they are homeless and sleeping at a friends. They lost most of their possessions in the fire, including Christmas toys, kitchen equipment, electronics, clothes, collectibles and more.
Here's how you can help.
The family is in need of food, hygiene products, transportation and money to cover housing costs.
Also having lost most of their clothes in the fire, the following items would be of great use:
- Girls size 5T to 6T in pants and shirts
- Girls size 12 shoes
- Womens size Medium or Large in shirts
- Womens size 9 in pants
- Womens size 8.5 in shoes
- Mens size Large and XL in shirts
- Mens size 32 to 30 and 34 to 36 in pants
- Toys for girls
- Toys for dogs and cats
To help cover costs, the family will be holding a fundraiser at the end of March. The benefit will take place on March 31st at Ugly Stick Saloon in Superior. It starts at 1 in the afternoon and continues through the dinner hour.
There will be food, coffee, soda and water. A live band, raffles, silent auction and games for kids will also take place.
The cost is $10 per persons age 12 and up and $6 for kids under 12.
Donations of any kind are appreciated, including the donation of product, services, vouchers, money and coupons. Unopened products or unused services are also welcome. You can RSVP here.
If you can't attend the event but want to give back, you can donate on the family's official GoFundMe page here.
