Duluth Named One Of The Loneliest Cities In The Country
This is sad news! Our little town was just given a title that you might feel deep down in your soul. Duluth has just been named one of the loneliest cities in the entire country.
24/7 Wall St. dropped this study last month, which means at the time of writing, some of us are feeling a bit alone.
What Makes A City Lonely?
While this study looks into a bunch of different factors in this case, overall the biggest weight on this study was how many people live alone and/or how much of the adult population lives by themself.
Duluth Named One Of The Loneliest Cities - Just How Lonely?
Duluth came in at number 34 on this list of the 50 loneliest cities in the country. It was also named the loneliest city in all of Minnesota by the same organization. That checks out considering Duluth is the only Minnesota city to crack the nationwide list.

Taking statistics out of it, it probably doesn't help that Duluth is also cold for a good part of the year, meaning it's easy to just stay inside your home and not venture out much during the bitter months.
Why Is Duluth So Lonely?
As of 2022, Duluth had about 34 percent of its adult population living alone. This is more than the national average, meaning Duluthians are lonelier than those living in other parts of the country.

It also made me sad to read that in Duluth, as of 2022, nearly half of the population of those ages 65 and up live alone. That also factored into Duluth's spot on this list. I don't want anyone to be lonely but we can just take this one with a grain of salt.
