Important Road Closure + Parking Alerts For Minnesota’s WE Fest
We Fest, the largest country music and camping festival in the United States, is about to take place at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Thousands of attendees will begin arriving ahead of Wednesday, July 31, the first official day of fun. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with the Kick-Party starting at 7:30 p.m.
From that point on, it'll be party time right through Saturday, July 3, with an impressive lineup that includes Eric Church, Jelly Roll, Parker McCollum, Elle King, and more.
However, it may not be as easy to get to WE Fest this year due to road construction, so an advisory has been issued to attendees, including important parking restrictions.
Parking Restrictions For WE Fest 2024
This week, in cooperation with the Minnesota State Patrol, the Minnesota Department of Transportation issued an alert reminding WE Fest attendees that no parking is allowed along Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes before noon on Monday, July 29.
Vehicles arriving before noon on Monday will not be permitted to park on the shoulder and will be subject to removal and penalty by law enforcement.
Furthermore, all vehicles parked along Highway 59 after noon on Monday must be parked on the shoulder and parking is at the owner’s risk. Guests are also reminded to stay within their vehicles and are not permitted to set up camps, chairs, grills, etc., outside their vehicles.
To ensure these policies are followed, the Minnesota State Patrol and WE Fest Security will actively patrol the area.
Road Construction Navigation
MnDOT also reminded attendees that road construction and related road closures will impact travel to WE Fest 2024.
For those traveling from Interstate 94 to Detroit Lakes, there is current road construction on Highway 59 in Pelican Rapids, and portions of the road are closed.
Those traveling with large trailers or campers are advised to use Highway 34 to Highway 59 to avoid traffic backups in Pelican Rapids. Businesses in Pelican Rapids are open, so if you have a destination in Pelican Rapids, use the in-town detour routes but expect long delays during peak times.

For those traveling from the east, Highway 34 is also under construction between Osage and Park Rapids, and the road is closed to through traffic. There is a detour in place on Highway 71 and County Road 48.
