Minnesota’s WE Fest: Items Now Prohibited, Campground Rules, Daily Lineups

WE Fest is back for its 43rd year, and the country party returns to Soo Pass Ranch just south of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, from August 5–8, 2026.

One of the largest country music and camping festivals in the country, WE Fest pairs a stacked main stage with 400 acres of campgrounds — and, like any festival, a list of rules worth knowing before you load the truck.

This year’s headliners anchor each night: the fun kicks off Wednesday, August 5 with a Barn Stage party topped by Cooper Alan, then the main stage takes over with Lainey Wilson on Thursday, Thomas Rhett on Friday, and Brooks & Dunn closing it out Saturday.

Before you pack, know that security is serious about the rules. Every vehicle is searched on the way in, and then again if you leave and come back, and metal detectors and detection dogs work the grounds. Prohibited items are confiscated and not returned, so it pays to leave the wrong stuff at home.

Items Prohibited From WE Fest 2026

Inside the concert bowl, here’s what you can’t bring through the front gate:

• Outside food and beverages — keep the snacks and drinks at your campsite; they don’t come into the concert field
• Coolers and metal containers — including for water; bring an empty or factory-sealed plastic water bottle instead
• Alcohol of any kind inside the bowl
• Glass containers of any kind
• Firearms, weapons or explosives — including pocket knives, pepper spray and tasers
• Professional cameras (anything with a detachable lens) and pro audio/video recording gear — small pocket cameras and phones are fine
• Drones or any remote flying device
• Tents, umbrellas, kites, frisbees, hula hoops and wagons or wheeled carts
• Bikes, scooters, skateboards, go-karts and ATVs
• Fireworks and sky lanterns
• Laser pointers, air horns, noisemakers and musical instruments
• Large misters and water guns
• Flags and unauthorized solicitation
• Pets — service animals are welcome with proper identification

One note on bags: anything larger than 4.5” x 6.5” must be clear and single-compartment, and no bag larger than 12” x 6” x 12” is allowed. Small fanny packs and clutches sail right through.

Campground Rules & Prohibited Items

The campgrounds have their own list. Along with the weapons ban that applies everywhere on the ranch, leave these behind:

• Firearms, weapons, ammunition and any illegal substances
• Glass containers or bottles of any kind
• Kegs, plus more alcohol than is reasonable for personal use
• Large hammers or sledgehammers — a rubber mallet for tent stakes is the way to go
• Large external speakers and sound systems that would disturb your neighbors
• Furniture, refrigerators or carpeting
• Golf carts, ATVs, scooters, e-bikes and skateboards
• Drones, fireworks and lawn darts
• Pets and unauthorized vending
• Off-site firewood — firewood is sold at every campground entrance
• Offensive signage or displays, including political or divisive flags (WE Fest has final say on what’s “offensive”)

A few key campground rules to plan around:

• Every camper needs both a Campground Access wristband and a 3-day admission ticket.
• Everything you bring, including one vehicle, must fit within your assigned site (an RV counts as your vehicle, and rigs over 40 feet require two sites).
• Excessive noise is never allowed, especially after 2 a.m., and all generators must shut off at 2 a.m. unless they carry an approved medical tag for a device like a CPAP.
• Campfires are permitted only in fire rings or above-ground pits, and all Minnesota DNR burn restrictions apply when in effect.
• WE Fest is primarily an 18-and-up festival, and anyone under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian.
