‘The Simpsons’ Predicted Team USA’s Curling Win Eight Years Ago
'The Simpsons' has been on for a very long time (29 seasons to be exact) but it still stuns and surprises - this time around it is for the show's uncanny ability to see the future.
In an early 2010 episode titled "Boy Meets Curl" Homer and Marge are placed with two others on a curling team. The team gets selected to take part in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and ultimately defeats Sweden for the gold.
I AM FREAKED OUT. So the Olympics clearly weren't in Vancouver this time around but the other details are uncanny. You can watch the clip above.
In case you didn't know, the U.S. men's curling team took home the gold after defeating Sweden 10 to 7. They weren't the favorites to win which makes this 'Simpsons' clip all the weirder.
What's even scarier is the fact that this isn't the first time the show has seemingly predicted the future! According to Time Magazine, the sitcom has foreseen the Ebola outbreak seventeen years in advance and Donald Trump's presidency sixteen years before it happened. Want to know who may perform at the Super Bowl next year? Better dig out your DVD collection. Lady Gaga's twin performed for the residents of Springfield while hanging from the sky in a silver outfit five years before the queen herself.
Other websites have also noticed that the animated program had a way with the future. Buzzfeed came up with 21 times the show nailed the whole "looking into the future" thing.
A quick Google search brings up pages and pages full of news outlets and online sites detailing times the hit was a psychic of sorts.
What do you think - has the comedy just been on so long that it is all a coincidence or are the writers onto something?
What else does the future hold? I guess we will have to watch 'The Simpsons' to find out.
