I for one have to disagree that this is the worst city in Minnesota to live in, and I am pretty sure most of you will agree.

Miranda Lambert is on the cover of Redbook next month and I am emotional.

I had the pleasure of attending the "Recognizing Women as a Driving Force Event" with the Woman Today Magazine at the Northland Country Club. The dubious award is given to women in our area that go above and beyond their daily contributions and deserve to be recognized for their additional time, talents, knowledge and volunteerism they give to Northlanders and for some, across the world!

I got out of my car at the grocery store last Saturday and ran into some friends in the parking lot.  They said, "Hey, we just saw you on the cover of a magazine in there".  We shot the photography for the magazine they spoke of with Jeff Peabody some time ago so I was puzzled.

I was grocery shopping at one of my favorite grocery stores this past weekend and noticed a black covering over the Cosmopolitan Magazine sporting the beautiful Miranda Lambert.  I hadn't seen this anywhere else in town, they are just out there on display.  I got the scoop from the check-out clerk and I don't agree, do you?

My name is Cathy.  Not Katherine, Kathleen or Katie, just plain ole' Cathy.  It's spelled with a "c" because my mother said she couldn't make a good looking "k".  I don't mind my name and my parents had it picked out long before I was born, but I often wonder what their second choice might have been.   Now, thanks to TIME magazine, I can find out and so can you!

I remember my mom faithfully reading the Ladies Home Journal magazine when I was a child and as I grew older I would pick one up from time to time while waiting in the dentist and doctor's office.  It's sad to think that something that has been around for SO long won't be available anymore, but at least it won't be gone all together.  They do plan to publish it on a quarterly basis.

According to a statement released by Twin Cities Business Magazine, congratulations are in order for Duluth Mayor Don Ness.  He has been honored as Twin Cities Business Magazine’s 2013 Person of the Year. Yet another reason to be a proud Duluthian!  Congratulations Mayor Ness!!!

Hayden Panettiere probably first caught your eye when she was on the show "Heroes".  More recently she is one of the stars of the hit show "Nashville".  (who knew she could sing too!).  She's a beautiful girl and her life interests many.  Now, she can add gracing the cover of Glamour Magazine's May issue to her list of accomplishments.  Wanna sneak peek at the pics?

I cross stitch, when I have time, which is usually once, in the summer, sitting at the campfire with a head lamp on..... probably why I'll never be good enough to hand stitch the cover of a magazine.  Check this out!  It's amazing!
