The mounted patrol made their last public appearance Friday night.

In their ongoing support of Special Olympics Minnesota, members of the Duluth Police Department are holding a special fundraising event at the Duluth Dunkin Donuts on Central Entrance.

The next time you have a $100 bill in your possession, you might want to double-check to make sure it's real. The Duluth Police Department is receiving reports of an increased number of counterfeit $100 bills in the area that look legitimate, except for a couple telling markings.

The Duluth Air Show is this weekend, with gates opening at 9:00 a.m. and closing at 6:00 p.m. both Saturday, July 9 and Sunday July 10.  With a dramatic increase in traffic expected near the Duluth airbase, the Duluth Police Department has issued an advisory.

Unfortunately there are tragic stories each summer about pets and children left in vehicles on hot summer days. While there has been a growing awareness about these dangers when outdoor temperatures are hot, it is important to remember that even on cooler days that it can still get dangerously hot in a vehicle.

Police officers are out there every day protecting the innocent citizens in our community.  I believe most people understand this, but many may not realize all that goes into a day on the job for a police officer.  The city of Duluth has a great, hands on, program available to help educate people on the tasks and challenges our officers face.

Natasha Lancour was the center of a high profile case where she accused a Superior police officer of brutality in an altercation in the Keyport Liqour parking lot in January.  She still faces disorderly conduct charges from that incident, and now she is facing DWI charges after an incident at Taco John's on Central Entrance.

If you notice roadways closed and emergency response teams in the area of Garfield Avenue this morning in Duluth, don't panic - it's only a drill.

Facebook was buzzing with a story of a gun threat called in to Lincoln Park Middle School and the kid was in the school, it scared a lot of people fast because of other shootings around the nation, directly from Northland's News Center our media partner and the Duluth Police Department, here is what is going on.
