‘It’s The Last Of Its Kind’ – This Steakhouse Is A Hidden Gem In Northwest Wisconsin
Remember a time when you would go to dinner and you'd have free rolls, a salad included with your meal, and good service? I don't know when it happened, but a starter salad before a nice meal used to be free. Nowadays you need to order a side salad at most places, and half the time it comes out a minute before your meal.
That's why I felt I needed to shine a light on what a wonderful experience we had last night at a local steakhouse that really is becoming one of the last of its kind.
I'm talking about the Hammond Steakhouse in Superior, Wisconsin.
This place hasn't changed over the years. As you walk up the stairs (yes they don't have an elevator, FYI), you'll feel like you're stepping back in time.

Don't get me wrong, the place is clean and well-maintained. It's just a blast from the past - and I like it just the way it is.
We sat down and our waitress was there in seconds with water. She took our drink order and we had our drinks faster than we can make them at home, I swear! My wife got a vodka club soda, and I of course had to go with an old-fashioned. (Sorry, Wisconsintes, it was a whiskey old-fashioned, not a fan of brandy old-fashioned.)
We heard the specials, and they were amazing on a Wednesday night. They had Prime Rib King Cut for just $22, and Queen Cut for $20. They also had steak and lobster for $28. That's a bargain, and how could you pass that up?
Both my wife and I ordered the steak and lobster. It came with your choice of house salad or Caesar salad and your choice of potato. It was a 7 oz sirloin with a lobster tail. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious.
It was fantastic service and great food, and I hope this place never changes. It's one of the last of its kind!
