Alto Pino Shares Bittersweet News With Duluth Customers
This is really sad news. It is always sad when a business closes but even more so when the business is as special and unique as this one.
Alto Pino is closing, and shared the sad news with a bittersweet note on social media on Tuesday (September 22nd).
The spot first opened in late 2024 along Superior Street, located next to where the former Ragstock location was. (That store has since moved to the Miller Hill Mall.)
It was something new and different for the area, offering carefully curated Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The atmosphere was very cozy and the meals were made with high-quality ingredients - and were often ones you couldn't get anywhere else in our neck of the woods.
Downtown Duluth Restaurant Says Goodbye After Nearly Two Years In Business
The business is officially closing its doors very soon, with the last day for reservations being Friday, October 2nd. In their message, they made sure to thank their loyal customers who showed up to feast time and time again.

The owner was also sure to thank every single staff member, saying they raised the bar with their work over the past few years at the restaurant. I had the chance to stop by and chat with the owner shortly after they opened, and I really enjoyed the passion she had for the food they were serving and loved the vibe of the space itself.
Why Is Alto Pino Closing?
As of now, no reason was given for why the downtown staple is closing. However, near the end of the message, the owner states that she will be sharing the reasons behind the closure at some point in the next few weeks.

Like I said, it is always really sad when a business closes and this one is no different. It really was something special and unique to the Duluth area. If you want to feast there one more time, you should make a reservation sooner rather than later.
