Increased Use Of Counterfeit Bills Prompt Warning From Police, Here’s What To Look For
Ken and I had talked about the topic of counterfeit bills in the area recently. It's easy to spot, IF you're looking for it, but easy to miss if you're just going about your business and moving forward through your day. The Duluth Police Department says that there are more and more of the bills being detected in the area and that prompted them to issue a warning.
The bills are passed on at busy times of a business or when the cashier's attention can be easily diverted. Grocery stores, restaurants, that type of business. Again, they appear very real except for the words "Motion Picture Use Only" on them and of course they can be detected with a counterfeit pen.
What can you do? Pay attention to what you have in your wallet and what you receive as change at a business. If you see one of these bills or come across a person who is attempting to use one of these fake bills, please call 911. Here are a few more examples of what to look for:
