Woman Arrested After Alleged Knife Assault In Downtown Duluth

The Duluth Police Department has issued a press release regarding an assault that took place on Monday, June 30th, 2026, in Downtown Duluth.

According to the Duluth Police Department, officers responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of West 4th Street around 5:15 pm.

The initial information shows that 36-year-old Karima Abdulmalik and another female were in a verbal argument. The altercation escalated when Abdulmalik threw a knife at the female victim, who sustained a minor laceration.

Police arrested Karima Abdulmalik. The St. Louis County Jail Roster shows Abdulmalik was booked at 6:10 pm in the St. Louis County jail, with pending second-degree felony assault charges.

Assault in the second degree in Minnesota is when it involves a dangerous weapon, such as in this case.

609.222 ASSAULT IN THE SECOND DEGREE.
Subdivision 1.Dangerous weapon.
Whoever assaults another with a dangerous weapon may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than seven years or to payment of a fine of not more than $14,000, or both.
Subd. 2.Dangerous weapon; substantial bodily harm.
Whoever assaults another with a dangerous weapon and inflicts substantial bodily harm may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both.

Abdulmalik is being held without bail.
