It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since the passing of our iconic artist Prince on April 21, 2016.  There has been many tributes to the late singer with special events and concerts and during several awards shows. To commemorate the anniversary of his death, the Minnesota Historical Society, 345 W Kellogg Blvd in St. Paul will have a very special display that I'm sure his fans will love to see.

Many people have visited Paisley Park, Prince's home and where he took his last breath. One of my friends that visited Paisley Park said that his home studio was the most amazing thing he has seen (but he's a musician too so I could see that).  It's such a popular tour that according to their website, tickets are being sold into September of this year already.

Fans can see more personal items from Prince's life on the first floor of  the Minnesota Historical Society's display in honor of his life that will be open for a limited time, April 18-23 for free.

Hours:

  • Tuesday, April 18, 10a-8p
  • Wednesday-Saturday, April 19-22, 10a-5p
  • Sunday, April 23, 12-5p

If you've seen the movie Purple Rain you'll recognize the Purple Rain suit that Prince wore in the movie while performing the title song back in 1983.  Unconfirmed, I have heard that Prince had literally hundreds of songs written, some recorded and all not yet released.  Perhaps that's true since the display also has handwritten lyrics to an unreleased song entitled, "I Hope We Work It Out".  The lyric sheet is signed by Prince back in 1977.

While preserving his privacy, Prince was also revered as an amazing song writer and performer.  This display of honor is proof of that. I hope that you get a chance to go view the exhibit or if you know a huge fan, please make sure they are aware, the days and times are limited.
