Finally! Heggie’s New Cauliflower Crust Pizza Available In Minnesota + Wisconsin Bars
I was at the Belknap Lounge in Superior last week enjoying a cocktail when I noticed a small sticker on the Heggie's menu. It said to try the new Heggie's Cauliflower Crust pizza! What? Could this really be true?
What's the big deal with the cauliflower crust anyway, and why am I excited? Well if you're like me, your body doesn't handle wheat all that well. It's also known as gluten intolerance, and I used to think it was a made-up thing until I cut it out of my diet and all of a sudden realized what living like a normal person was like.
One of the things I've missed the most is the ability to order a bar pizza. Because until now, most bars haven't carried a gluten-free crust. Cauliflower crust is gluten-free and also is a little healthier than traditional pizza crust. The beauty is you can't even tell the difference. In fact, I prefer the taste of a cauliflower crust over traditional pizza dough. it's crispy, somewhat thin, and holds together very nicely.
Heggie's new gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza comes in two varieties. They have Margherita which is topped with tomato, basil, garlic, and sliced mozzarella cheese.
The other version is sausage and pepperoni. Pretty self-explanatory, but it's topped with sausage, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese.
So how does it taste? Just like the Heggies you've always loved. Seriously, I wouldn't have been able to tell you the difference. What I loved about Heggies is that it is heavily loaded. There's plenty of tasty sauce, toppings, and thick cheese. It's one of the best bar pizzas you can get. Oh, and you can get them at home too.
They're made right in Milaca, Minnesota too!
So next time you're out, or you're buying pizzas for home, keep an eye out for Heggie's Gluten Free Cauliflower Crust pizza and give it a try.
