Easy Recipe for Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent, Clothes are Brighter and Smell Great

Recently, I made and blogged about a homemade laundry soap that my friend Coleen had found at onegoodthingbyjillee.com. It involved grating a bar of Fels Naptha soap and mixing it with other powdered detergents.  For those of you that prefer a liquid detergent, there is a recipe for that too.  The goal is to give you bright, clean, great smelling clothes, while saving oodles of money.  Let me know what you think!

I have a bigger right bicep due to grating the Fels Naptha soap bar, so this liquid version of homemade laundry soap look appealing.  It's concentrated, so you'll use less and save more $$$!  You'll need an empty plastic bottle, about 30% smaller than a gallon size to start.

Then add:

•  1/2 cup of Borax
• 1/2 cup of Washing Soda
• 1/2 cup of Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (no difference between Original and the Ultra varieties)

Then add:

4 cups HOT water to dissolve the ingredients, then fill the container the rest of the way with cold water. The ingredients tend to settle at the bottom between uses, shake to mix before adding 1/4 cup per large load to the washer.

*According to Jillee, the liquid version of homemade laundry soap doesn’t contain the oxygen bleach component that her DRY version does, so she adds some of that to her white loads.  Jillee also says this laundry detergent should work perfectly fine in front loader (high efficiency) washers. It has very little to NO suds.
