Duluth Library Virtual Kaleidoscope Event Features Yo-Yo Master
We spoke with Library Laura for our weekly segment this morning. It's been great to hear from Laura now especially with COVID-19 changes and updates at the Duluth Public Library. For example she mentioned last week that no appointment necessary curb side pick up is now available at the library. They also have their summer reading program underway as well.
Normally we talk about all the different events that people can attend across the different library locations in the City of Duluth. One of those summer events that has been very popular over the years is the Kaleidscope events that take place on the plaza. Literally hundreds of kids have showed up to this in years past. However due to COVID-19, this year they are going to have to do the event virtually. Starting tomorrow they will have a video up from 'Dazzling Dave.' He's a National Yo-Yo Master Award winner. He does performances for people across the country, including lots of school visits. Check out this video of Dazzling Dave doing his thing.
The video will be up on the Duluth Library's Facebook page starting June 24th and going through June 28th. Not only is he going to teach you some tricks, but he'll also give a tour of his yo-yo room, which sounds pretty awesome.
If you've been looking to get your kids into an activity that they can do at home, this might be just the thing. I have kids at home and we've been trying to get them doing activities that aren't on a tablet or video game. I'll definitely be having them watch this video! Maybe I'll dust off some of my old yo-yo tricks myself like "around the world," or "walking the dog." Of course, it's been since 1990's since I've done either successfully. I guess I'm no Dazzling Dave.
