The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is currently holding an online land auction that features nine properties. The properties for sale include lands in Carlton, Itasca, Pine, St. Louis, and Wadena counties.

There are lakeshore, rural and recreational properties available. However, only one property features commercial potential and that would be the one available in Carlton Country.

This 7.70 acre parcel, located about 18 miles southwest of Duluth, happens to be the former Cloquet DNR Office. According to the Minnesota DNR listing:

Approximately 3+ acres of the site is developable upland providing an ideal opportunity for small to mid-sized commercial development. This prime location offers an advantage to other city lots being the first developed site along Hwy 33 in the southern business district, with additional visibility from I-35. Cloquet is a popular stop-off location for vacation travelers passing through from the Twin Cities to the Iron Range, Duluth or western cities.

The DNR adds that this property features direct access from Hwy 33 as well as connection to other businesses via a frontage road. The lot is serviced by city water, sewer, gas and other utilities. Also, zoning and economic development assistance is available from the City of Cloquet.

Improvements to the site include an office building, partially heated garage building, multiple unheated outbuildings, city utilities. When bidding began, the DNR had set the minimum bid for this listing at $480,000.

Online bidding for all nine properties began on December 1, 2021 and bids will be accepted through Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Before bidding, you'll first need to register for an account with MinnBid.org.

All properties are being sold "As Is", according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
