Do You Know What This Was Used For?
Do you remember these? I was in Rhineland, WI with my sister at The Vintage Thrift Shop and ran across so many things that took us back to our childhood. Salt and Pepper shakers, knick knacks and games that were at our mother’s house. We laughed when we she picked up this item and said, “remember THIS!"
It’s a metal ice cube tray with a handle assist, lol. I’m not sure what came first, the plastic ones you twist to get the ice cubes out or these. I remember that if your hands were wet, they’d stick to the outside of the metal tray much like if you were to put your tongue on a piece of metal in the winter (do not try that!).
The handle didn’t always work real easy either, sometimes you had to reef on it to get the handle to move. However, this was probably state of the art back then.
Now we have the option to get a refrigerator with the convenience of an ice maker. Cubed or crushed with the added ease of a water button right there. This is great for people who need their water filtered. That technology has made metal ice trays and a lot of other things I grew up with, obsolete. It’s such a catapult back to my childhood and brings back such great memories when we run across things like this.
Thanks for the memories Vintage Thrift Shop in Rhineland, WI! What have you seen lately that has taken you back, I'd love to know?
