The old Laura MacArthur Elementary School was demolished in 2012. I found a video that showed some pics of the old school, and took a trip down memory lane.

Sugar Daddy's was a gentleman's club in Cloquet, Minnesota before it was replaced by a Kwik Trip. The old club was featured in a short film titled 'Duluth'.

The Manitou Valley campground in Superior opened up in the 1960's for families to make fun outdoor memories. Check out this video of the abandoned area.

The latest information is that the retail industry is suffering for a couple of reasons.  One of course is the option to shop on line and have it delivered to your home.  The other is that popular retail stores are feeling the crunch of on line shopping and closing their retail spaces.  Sad.  I have such great memories of going to the mall, from a child to pushing my child in a stroller.

Our youth today has no idea how lucky they are to be able to take pictures on their phones and share them on social media immediately.  When I was young we had to send our film through the mail to be developed.  Do you remember the photo mailer in the picture above?  Yes, Holiday Gas Station use to deal with developing film!

Ok, maybe forgotten by some, but only until I remind you they existed.  This list culminates from the mid to late 80's when I was single and a drink cost $1.25.  Hard to believe, right?  See if you remember any of these and if you do, share your memories with me!!!  Oh, and help me list the bars I've forgotten focusing on the downtown Duluth area.

As we were starting to go through Christmas decoration to see what we might need to replace this year my family started talking about our memories of the holiday.  Since I grew up in the Northland and I know you may have a lot of the same memories that I do, I thought I'd share...

I grew up in Wrenshall so I lived the country side of trick or treating.  There has always been definite differences between country and city trick or treating but now even more so, due to the world we live in and safety.  It's sad that some sinister people actually put a legitimate scare into the art of trick or treating.
