City of Superior Announces Free Landfill Days Oct. 24 & 31
The City of Superior has announced that there will be two upcoming free landfill days to residents later this month. The first day is Saturday October 24, and the other will be a week later on October 31 (Halloween).
The landfill will accept household trash items for free to residents of Superior. Normally the cost for this is minimum $10 or $54/ ton. Brush also will be accepted for free, which normally costs $8 per pickup or $16 per pickup with trailer. Tires also will be accepted for free that are 18" or less. There is a limit of 4 per resident. As always grass clippings and leaves will be accepted for free.
Mattresses and box springs will also be accepted, but there will be a charge. If they are completely dry and fairly clean the charge is $20. If wet and dirty it is a $25 fee.
The City of Superior also reminds you that these items are not accepted at the landfill:
- Household Hazardous Waste
- Fluorescent bulbs
- Recyclables
- Electronics
- Appliances
- Batteries
- Motor oil
The free landfill days are only for Superior residents with proof of residency required. This could be a drivers license with Superior address on it, or a property tax statement. No contractors or businesses may take advantage of the free landfill days. All loose items must be tied or bagged. Loads must be covered during transport to prevent littering along roadways.
The free landfill days are on Saturdays with extended hours from 8am-2:30pm. The Superior Landfill is located on Moccasin Mike Road, 1.5 miles east of Highway 53.
