As Demand Increases, CHUM Releases New Donation Needs
COVID-19 has hit families hard this year, with people losing jobs and sometimes their homes and apartments, CHUM has released a want list help these people.
The shelter is in need of new or gently used microwaves. Also, they are asking for pots and pans to replace the older ones. Sometimes these can be pricey so you might want to go in on these together with someone. They are in need of bedding especially Twin sized sheets and blankets. They are in need of washcloths and towels.
The Health Clinic is in need of new underwear, boxers, bras, socks, deodorant, and tampons. All sizes are needed. Please make sure the underwear, socks, and bras are new. One of the things the shelter is always looking for is toilet paper, paper towels, toothbrushes, and other personal hygiene items.
Also, all sizes of diapers, pacifiers, baby formula, and baby wipes. I mentioned before that they are looking for toiletries but shampoo for baby and adult and they are asking for full-sized.
The Outreach Services is in need of ant tents, sleeping bags, or other camping equipment. Blankets are needed too and in the way of sleeping, some pillows and pillow covers.
The Drop-in Center is asking for Laundromat Vouchers. I would imagine they need detergent and drier sheets too.
Heavy winter coats, winter boots, hats, gloves, and scarves. Anything needed for winter wear is really needed because that cold season is coming soon.
Because of COVID-19, they are only accepted by appointment only in order to enforce social distancing. Please call 218-720-6521 to schedule a drop off at the offices.
