If there's one thing Minnesota has, it's plenty of fishing opportunities and this weekend will be the perfect time to head outside and make family memories.

Voyageurs National Park is a treasure that we have in the State of MN just a short drive north of here.  If you've never been there, it's definitely worth a visit.  Filmmakers from Georgia recently made a video highlighting the breathtaking beauty.

Because my husband is involved with the Swain Cross Country Meet, I only get to Bayfield's Apple Festival every three years.  This year we camped in the quaint town of Ashland, WI and day tripped through the colorful autumn foliage to Bayfield.  The photo opportunities were abundant and I wanted to share them with you.

You don't have to have a green thumb to help "tip the roses" at the Leif Erikson Park Rose Garden in Duluth.  In fact, you could use this as a learning experience. Tipping roses needs to be done when the weather starts to turn cooler.  It helps to protect the plant, almost puts it in a sort of hibernation mode.  Can you help?

Pattison State Park was one of my mom's favorite place for picnics when I was a child.  I loved it because I got to swim!  Eve, a Facebook friend shared that they will be working on changing the infrastructure of Pattison Park and your help would be appreciated, plus you can camp overnight for free because it will be a two day process.  Are you in?

As a native of the Northland I'm no stranger to hearing people complain about the tourists feeding the seagulls.  I've always thought "oh let em' have their fun, they don't have gulls where they live".   Until last night when it hit me....literally.

If you haven't visited the Great Lakes Aquarium lately it should be on your "to do" list to see the new Unsalted Seas Exhibit.  My favorite (and always will be) is the Otters, those little playful honeys!  But, my friend Alan White told me the tale that he gets to kiss the sturgeon and THAT I HAD to see.

Recently, the finalists were revealed for the new Minnesota Parks and Trails license plate design contest.  After a week of online voting, during which more than 30,000 votes were cast, Lt. Gov. Tina Smith today announced the winner of the contest.
