Bluebird Foundation Helps Students Pursue Their Dreams
You may have heard of the Bluebird Foundation but don't know what the organization does for our community. Here's a snapshot of the wonderful work they do and a way you can get involved this holiday season.
The Bluebird Foundation is a non-profit that was started by founder, Tracy Lundeen. He credits his mother for encouraging his gift and love of music and for instilling the importance of children pursuing their dreams for the inspiration of the foundation.
According to the Bluebird website, their mission is "to be an advocate for area youth in the performing arts and to create awareness of the power of the arts to enhance self esteem, to increase understanding of others, and to improve academic performance".
They allow area 9-12 grade students from all schools and home-schooled to apply for various grants to help in furthering their talents in the areas of theater, dance, vocal and instrumental music. They offer scholarships up to $1000 annually in May and November.
To fund these scholarships they have an amazing holiday CD which is a 2-CD set with 41 songs this year. It's called Christmas By The Lake and contains sparkling holiday cheer and sounds of the season highlighting the musical recordings of local, regional and national musicians (with local ties).
This CD makes a great gift (think hostess gift for all the holiday parties you'll be attending).
